ONX 2025 Event App Interface

Executive Summary

Designing the digital companion for the ONX 2025 conference, focusing on a highly responsive, tactile mobile experience. The app allows attendees to customize their breakout sessions based entirely on their department and role, ensuring a personalized event journey.

My Role

  • Designed 'Customize Your Experience' flow for department-based session filtering
  • Implemented tactile micro-interactions (active scale, heart animations)
  • Defined accessibility standards including high-visibility focus rings
  • Created a mobile-first design system with fluid transitions
  • Collaborated with developers on haptic feedback implementation

The Challenge

The Problem

Large conferences often overwhelm attendees with irrelevant sessions and static, unresponsive mobile tools. The goal was to create an app that felt 'alive' and deeply personalized.

User Impact

Ensured 100% of attendees see relevant content on their first login through deep personalization.

Business Impact

Delivered a scalable design system that prioritizes engagement and reduces content noise.

Process

01

Concept

Explored tactile feedback patterns to make the app feel alive.

Key Activities

  • Motion Design
  • Haptic Prototyping
02

Execution

Refined the customization flow to ensure immediate relevance.

Key Activities

  • UI Design
  • Accessibility Testing

Solution

A 'Customize Your Experience' modal that serves as the entry point, filtering content by department immediately. The UI utilizes tactile feedback principles—buttons scale down when pressed, and interaction elements like the 'Heart' icon pulse (`group-active:scale-125`) to mimic physical buttons, creating a delightful and responsive feel.

Key Features

  • Tactile UI: integrated `active:scale-95` on primary buttons for physical feel
  • Department-Based Personalization: tailored session tracks based on user role
  • Micro-animations: 'Heart' icon pumping animation on interaction
  • Accessibility: branded focus rings for clear navigation
  • Fluid Design: smooth `transition-all` states for color and shadow changes
